Great TV if you have the space June 4, 2010 DJ Rob (Pleasanton, CA) Have owned this for over a year now - just writing the review. Love it. Bought this over a traditional flatscreen as we already owned the giant oak entertainment system housing our old floor standing rear-projection 55" that died after 10 years of loyal service. Great picture experience if you take some time to adjust the setting to your room, sound quality irrelevant to me as that's directed through separate sound system. Only complaint for me really is the placement of all the connections, all located on the lower right hand side of the system, and all my A/V equipment already housed on the left, so had to go and purchase extra long cables to make the new connections. Seems they could have been a bit more centrally located, but oh well. Like all projection screens, keep the kids and pets away from it -- fingerprint magnet, but I don't have any scratches on it yes (4 kids), so giving it high marks for durability as well. Very satisfied and somehow or another I got free 'white-glove' delivery on it as well, so it was a fantastic purchase for the price.
3D EXPERIENCE May 13, 2010 OSCAR (CT) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Samsung left it's Loyal customers out in the cold with this one.
...DO NOT PURCHASE THIS FOR IT'S 3D.
...DOES NOT SUPPORT THE LATEST 3D technology.
...DOES NOT SUPPORT SAMSUNG'S BD-C6900 1080p 3D Blu-ray player.
...MUST SPEND THOUSANDS ON A HTPC TO RUN IT's 3D.
Looking for a 3D Tv to play games in 3D or watch the latest Blu-ray 3D DVD's on.
Well this one's not for you.
They failed to tell you you also need an HTPC running tridef.
This Tv was made in 2008 and 2009 "old technology" thats what Samsung told me.
I purchased this in 2009 set because it was 3D ready. WHAT A MISTAKE.
This came Directly from Samsung's tech support team.
Samsung is not going to release any firmware upgrade because it's not possible, these Dlp TVs cannot support the latest 3D technology.
They also said that these Dlp TV's do not support the Samsung BD-C6900 1080p 3D Blu-ray player. So, this means that they will only work with Home Theater PC.(HTPC)running tridef 3D. Tridef does not currently support Blu-ray.
So you still have to purchase a powerful enough PC to be able to stream videos and transform them into a 3D image without lagging.
If your just looking for a HDTV then it's a nice TV, I have no complaints there.
Dead after 16 months April 6, 2010 K. Sanders (Detroit, MI) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
After 16 months of bliss, the TV stopped displaying an image.
I got a good deal on it, but to have it go out in a little over a year, is pretty disappointing.
Amazon service was great. Delivery was great. TV seemed to be great, until it died.
I replaced a 32in tube TV, that was about 15 years old, and it still worked. This was my first "big screen".
I don't think I'll make another investment like this, nor will I be buying Samsung again.
loving it April 2, 2010 Richard V. Duncan ive had this for 14 mos. now. i love it. its not paper thin. this is a high quality picture.
